HORSHAM, PA / ACCESSWIRE / January 18, 2016 / Cottman Transmissions and Total Auto Care is pleased to announce that Sue Burg, senior director of advertising, has joined the Car Care Council Women's Board.

The Women's Board is dedicated to providing support for women working in the auto repair industry. According to their web site -- www.carcare.org/womens-board/ -- the Women's Board offers networking, mentoring, and advisory assistance for female automotive professionals.

It's not much wonder that these goals would resonate with Burg: She's been with Cottman for over 30 years, providing marketing support for Cottman and its franchisees. And with that experience, she's no doubt familiar with the pitfalls that women face in what's traditionally been a male-dominated industry.

"The Women's Board is here to make people aware that there are strong, capable women in the auto repair industry," says Burg. "Every day, more women are entering this industry as service writers, shop owners, and even technicians. And they need encouragement and assistance from the women who've opened the doors and led the way for them."

Earlier this year, at the AAPEX 2015 show in Las Vegas, the Car Care Council Women's Board honored Cottman for its Cottman Man blog -- thecottmanmanblog.com -- an online site where Cottman provides consumers with auto care and repair advice in a friendly, easy-to-follow manner. While not specifically written for women, the blog is designed to be accessible and informative to all consumers, regardless of gender or automotive familiarity.

Cottman President Randy Wright had this to say about Burg's step to help women in the automotive industry: "We're all very proud of Sue and inspired by her efforts on behalf of women in the auto repair industry. More and more repair decisions are being made by women, so it can only help improve our image and our ability to serve them to have women as part of the repair effort."

The entire staff at the Cottman home office would like to thank Burg for her dedication and to offer her any assistance she needs in her efforts to help women take their rightful place in the auto repair industry.
