For those who haven't heard, Beasts of the Mesozoic is a line of scientifically accurate, highly detailed, and articulated dinosaur action figures. The project's creator, David Silva, is a sculptor and designer for the toy industry and the founder of the dinosaur model kit company, Creative Beast Studio. David seeks to bring his experience of both toy making and dinosaurs together to make the ultimate collector- based dinosaur toy line fulfilling a great demand in the market for accurate dinosaur action figures.

This Kickstarter, the first in a planned toy line of the Beasts of the Mesozoic brand, will be the Raptor Series consisting of mid-sized dromaeosaurs and related species with each figure measuring about 12" in length and standing about 5" tall. The campaign began with three species; Velociraptor, Atrociraptor, and Tsaagan, but has also added nine more to the roster for a total of twelve different dinosaur species! The Kickstarter exclusive blue Velociraptor osmolskae has been added and the unlocked stretch goals include action figures of Saurornitholestes, Balaur bondoc, Adasaurus, Dromeaosaurus, Archeroraptor, Zhenyuanlong, Pyroraptor, and Linheraptor. Many of these species will be getting the action figure treatment for the first time. Each figure will have 26 points of articulation, realistic detail and movement based on the most recent scientific discoveries, and will also feature a base with posing rod as well as alternate running toes.

In addition to the figures, every package will have unique raptor artwork by the amazingly talented Jonathan Kuo and a collectible card on the back featuring the art and basic stats about each animal. (Two sets of post cards featuring Kuo's artwork are also offered.) And also an additional incentive reward for this Kickstarter campaign is a signed, limited edition print by comic illustration legend, Mark Schultz, creator of Xenozoic Tales (a.k.a Cadillacs and Dinosaurs).

The project may be funded, but there is more in store for this campaign. Still ahead are accessory packs featuring habitat-specific diorama items, a fan-voted raptor variant figure, and a 2017 calendar featuring Kuo's package art. These are just some of the incentive items to watch for in the next few weeks.

Looking froward, the success of this campaign could lead to so much more - other dinosaurs, pterosaurs, prehistoric mammals, even modern animals, as higher end collector action figures. The people have made their voices heard- THE DINOSAUR TOY REVOLUTION HAS BEGUN.

About the creator: David Silva has been sculpting and designing in the toy industry since 2003 for companies such as McFarlane Toys, Hasbro, and NECA specializing in creature-related action figures. In addition, he has been the sole proprietor of Creative Beast Studio since 2009 with a focus on dinosaur model kits. David also received the Spectrum 22 Silver Dimensional award for his piece 'Dragon vs. Raptors' in 2015.
