SAN DIEGO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / December 7, 2018 / IACC, considered a leader of the global conference industry, recently released their latest "Meeting Room of the Future" report. From a survey of over 180 professional meeting planners, the study gives a glimpse into the future of corporate events through the eyes of those best placed to make predictions. San Diego's Alex Hern, the CEO of 3D, virtual and augmented reality solutions provider Tsunami XR, shared his thoughts on the "Meeting Room of the Future" and commented on how his company is poised to facilitate businesses as they continue to adapt and evolve.

IACC pinpointed several trends expected to emerge over the next five years, including the buzz term, 'meeting experience.' While education and content will continue to be key objectives, there will be an increased focus on creating high impact, memorable moments. "Conferences are no longer just be about a one-way flow of presentations with some networking to wrap up," said Alex Hern. "It's now about engaging delegates and encouraging collaboration. Essentially, meeting experiences need to be holistic and delegate-centered." This means everything from shorter sessions times, inclusive discussions, greater use of incoming technologies, and higher quality food and beverages. Lag-free wireless internet will be crucial for the successful use of interactive software, including mobile conferencing apps, audience participation apps, live streaming, and video conferencing.

As technological costs have begun to decrease, event planners are turning to companies like Tsunami XR for advanced virtual reality and 3D hologram programs to provide a next-gen experience to their staff. With the help of volumetric capture from a depth capture camera, high resolution live streaming and an AR (Augmented Reality) or VR (Virtual Reality) headset, businesses are incorporating holographic communications in order to present speakers from and to remote locations. "Face to face interaction transfers an immense amount of non-verbal information," said Alex Hern. "Most of this information is lost in online tools, promoting poor online behaviors. Users miss the gestures, facial expressions and eye contact that bring nuance, emotional connotation and ultimately empathy to a conversation. We're injecting these missing elements into long-distance conversations that cannot be achieved with a Skype or Facetime video chat."

Alex Hern is a successful entrepreneur of more than 25 years. During the course of his career, Hern has co-founded Inktomi, a Goldman Sachs-led IPO that powered and was the search technology for MSN, Yahoo and AOL, Yesmail, an email marketing and web directory that went public and sold for $650 million, and Arcsight, a cyber security company that was sold to Hewlett-Packard for $1.5 billion. Hern is currently the CEO of San Diego-based Tsunami XR, a leading immersive software and content solutions provider for the enterprise market that he founded in 2011. The company designs and delivers 3D, virtual and augmented reality solutions to improve workplace productivity, collaboration and knowledge transfer for the world’s top global businesses.
