Hugh D. Fuller: The Best Powerboats for Different Styles of Racing

Monday, 07 June 2021 10:30 AM

CLEARWATER, FL / ACCESSWIRE / June 7, 2021 / Powerboat racing is a dynamic sport made up of racers with different racing styles. Choosing the right kind of powerboat for your racing style is one of the most important tasks that racers will take on. Boat design should reflect what type of racer you are and the types of races you compete in. Each boat has its own specialities and qualities that make them great for racing. Some boats are designed and built to go fast, while others may be better for control.

Accomplished powerboat racer Hugh D. Fuller outlines the best powerboats for racing styles so that you can make sure your boat is getting the job done.

Catamarans

A catamaran is a high-performance boat that can reach speeds beyond 200 mph with the right conditions and an abundance of power. Catamarans generally range in size anywhere from 24 to 50 feet long and have a need for speed that should only be taken advantage of by experienced drivers. They provide the maximum speed, but lack in areas like versatility and can be complicated to reboard from the water.

'Catamarans are most useful if you want to reach high-performance speed since the purpose of their build is to be a go-fast boat,' says Hugh D. Fuller. 'These boats are great for speed, but don't provide much cabin room or versatility.'

V-Bottom Sports Boat

V-bottom sports boats are another ideal option for racing. These boats aren't as fast as catamarans, but can reach speeds of up to 150 mph. V-bottom sports boats are more versatile than catamarans in that they feature cabins, but if you're not looking for much cabin space, the V-bottom boats may not be the best option for you and your racing needs.

'V-bottom sports boats definitely have the power and ability for speed, but they also have a lot of space for other things,' says Hugh D. Fuller. 'These boats do offer a great deal of versatility in comparison to other boats, so when choosing this type of boat you should evaluate your racing needs.'

Centre Consoles

Centre console boats are powerhouses with triple and quad outboard engines that power up the boat and reach speeds of over 80 mph. While this isn't the fastest high-performance boat, it is the most versatile of the three. Centre consoles are considered the fastest-growing in the market of 'go-fast' boats, and many popular powerboat racing companies produce more centre consoles than catamarans and V-bottom sports boats.

'Centre consoles have a certain performance quality to them that offers exhilarating performance,' said Hugh D. Fuller. 'These popular powerboats provide speed and versatility, making them one of the best high-performance options available.'

While all of these are great options for racing, it all depends on the races you choose to participate in and the qualities that you are looking for in a boat. Taking every little detail of the boats into consideration is going to provide you with the best option for you and your racing needs.
