Renowned body-sculpting expert Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta says the pandemic world has people looking to make bodily improvements.
MIAMI, FL / ACCESSWIRE / December 27, 2021 / When elective surgery restrictions began to loosen in early 2021, plastic surgeons in the aesthetic medicine field were not so sure what to expect in terms of patient demand for procedures. According to Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta M.D. F.A.C.S., a well-recognized plastic surgeon based in Miami, the demand for aesthetic procedures has been more profound than most practitioners would have anticipated.
The topic of the booming aesthetic industry in spite of COVID-19 even made news in Allure Magazine in March of this year. An editorial piece disclosed that plastic surgeons and dermatologists alike are dealing with an all-out boom in requested procedures. From New York City to San Francisco, practitioners are seeing both former patients and newcomers with seemingly more interest in the latest procedures available.
Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta explains the reason for the pandemic-spurred interest
Dr. Constantino Mendieta says there is a logic behind the sudden influx of new requests for procedures. According to information gathered from various sources, Dr. Mendieta proposes that actual time for downtime away from physical employment has a major role to play.
"With more people having the ability to work from home, more people also have the opportunity to get those elective procedures-whether that is a Brazilian butt lift, tummy tuck, or otherwise-and recover at home. The pandemic has changed how people are employed and how much time they are required to spend out of the house. That change makes recovery for elective procedures easier and more discreet."
Time at home may not be the only reason behind a heightened interest in plastic surgery procedures, however. Dr. Mendieta says that other factors are most likely at play, including a newly discovered interest in seeking self-care simply to combat or deal with stress:
"The pandemic has reshaped our lives, but it has also injected new levels of stress into our daily lives. Many people are looking at plastic surgery and doing something good to feel emotionally better. A mother, stressed out because she has spent much of the year at home, dealing with children out of school and lack of outside entertainment, may come in for a Mommy Makeover and walk away with a totally new lease on life in spite of everything. In a sense, plastic surgery is therapeutic."
As to what the future holds for the aesthetic surgery field in 2022, the doctor says that we could see a lot of the same patterns, but possibly on a smaller scale. Either way, he intends to continue to have a hand in giving people bodies they can feel confident in, especially through times when the outside world is dealing with so much.
Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta is Board-Certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgeons, trained alongside some of the top names in aesthetic surgery globally, and was once named as one of the top plastic surgeons in the country. In 2021, Dr. Mendieta was named as the #1 J-Plasma Expert in the world thanks to his dedication to the evolution of techniques used by surgeons during body-shaping procedures.
