Waldo’s Rescue Pen

The Animal Adoption Nonprofit Founder Sat Down To Discuss Her Life, Her Career, and Her Professional Philosophy

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / March 11, 2022 / It is with great anticipation that Emily Dyson, Founder and President of animal adoption nonprofit Waldo's Rescue Pen, announces that she is the subject of a new interview. The interview, which is scheduled to be published in the spring of 2022, was conducted by a freelance journalist on behalf of an online periodical aimed at business people and entrepreneurs.

Early in the piece, Emily is asked how her own adopted home of New York City is responding to her efforts to match rescue animals with foster homes and permanent homes, replying, "New York is finally becoming more aware about animal rescues. In fact, I've noticed that there seems to be fewer commercial pet stores around the city, which is a wonderful development. Now, when people want to adopt a pet, they are more likely to seek out rescue networks and shelters, and consequently learn more about the issues surrounding rescue animals and what can be done to help them."

Further along in the interview, Emily Dyson responds to a question about the one strategy she would credit most with helping to grow Waldo's Rescue Pen. "Taking advantage of social media has helped us significantly. We have almost twelve thousand followers on Instagram. This makes it easier to reach out and take chances on possible pet fosterers. It also makes it possible for us to remain connected with our pet fosterers and adopters," she explains, adding, "We're able to tag and be tagged freely, which makes everything feel more genuine. Because of our social media presence, we've gotten a lot of feedback to help better coordinate our efforts with current and potential fosters."

Anyone interested in reading the full text of the interview is encouraged to keep watch for its publication in the coming weeks, while anyone curious to learn more about Waldo's Rescue Pen is encouraged to visit the organization's official website.

About Emily Dyson:

Emily Dyson is the Founder and President of Waldo's Rescue Pen, an animal adoption nonprofit based in New York City. Even as a child, Emily Dyson nurtured a passion for animal rescue. At the tender age of 7 years old, a bird flew into her window and injured its wing. Emily found it, took it to a local veterinarian for medical attention, and carefully nursed it back to health before releasing it back to the wild. Ever since then, she has surrounded herself with animals both large and small.

After high school, Emily Dyson attended California State University at Long Beach, and then the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. She then moved to New York City where she worked in financial analysis and inventory planning with firms such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, American Express, Ted Baker, and GAP Inc. until 2020. While in the middle of a planned move to Japan, Emily became involved with organized animal rescue and it rekindled her passion for rescuing animals. Soon after, she created a nonprofit called Waldo's Rescue Pen in order to further the cause. The organization coordinates with animal shelters in the Southern United States and Puerto Rico, bringing animals up north to prepare them for fostering and permanent adoption.

When COVID-19 started to spread in earnest, Emily Dyson left the fashion industry and focused on Waldo's Rescue Pen full time. In its short existence, the nonprofit has rescued more than 1400 dogs. Of that 1400, around 1260 have been adopted, and Waldo's Rescue is working hard to find homes for those that are left. As the Founder and President of the organization, Emily has teamed with volunteers and animal shelters across the country to facilitate a network with the same shared goals: working for the benefit of the animals, connecting them with foster owners, veterinarians, and care as needed.
