The 2022 event is scheduled for May 1 and anticipates a turnout of over 32,000 riders, returning to pre-pandemic participation figures while also complying with all relevant COVID-19 guidelines. This is the 44th year the event has been held by the Brooklyn-based organization Bike New York.
This sold-out event brings together cyclists of all ages and backgrounds to experience New York City streets free of cars. The course is laid out across the five boroughs and encompasses over 40 miles. Funding from sponsors like Colbeck Capital Management supports bicycling education programs and safe biking advocacy across New York City with the spotlight on the biggest organized bike ride held in the United States.
Support of the Children's Tumor Foundation doubles the impact of the sponsorship by providing backing for the event's official 2022 Charity Partner. The Children's Tumor Foundation drives research for effective treatments for neurofibromatosis (NF), which afflicts millions of people globally. NF is a group of genetic disorders that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. CTF also provides educational programs and advocacy around the disease as well as patient support.
For 2022, Colbeck Capital Management is sponsoring a team of riders representing the Children's Tumor Foundation to raise awareness for NF. The race is among many different walking, running, cycling, and climbing events the NF Endurance Team takes on each year in support of the Foundation's mission to drive research, expand knowledge, and advance care for the NF community. Fundraising goals will also help athletes become eligible for additional awards and prizes provided by CTF sponsors.
