Freedom At The Mat Partners With SANA Yoga to Present Benefit Class Matching & Donating 100% of Class Fees on Sunday, Sept 25
NEW ORLEANS, LA / ACCESSWIRE / September 2, 2022 / In recognition of both National Yoga Month and National Mental Health & Substance Abuse Recovery Month this September, Freedom at the Mat (FATM), created by Wellness Educator Olivia F. Scott, RYT-200, will host a yoga & meditation benefit experience on September 25, 2022 from 1:00pm-2:30 pm CST at Collage Dance Center, 501 Tillman Street, Memphis, TN 38112. This event, Freedom of The Soul Memphis, will benefit the Grace House of Memphis and feature mindfulness, active listening partner exercises, and beginner-friendly vinyasa yoga set to jazz music led by Olivia, along with restorative yoga & meditation, led by SANA Yoga Teacher, Lydia Faith Baggett, RYT-200.
Olivia knows the consequences of women deprioritizing their mental and physical health all too well. Having come from a line of women who didn't prioritize self-care, she witnessed three generations of women in her family die at exactly 65-years-old. She is intentional in creating content and experiences encouraging the recognition of yoga as a healing modality and making it accessible to all-not limited by dress size, flexibility, social class or ethnicity.
"My sister Bootsie battled substance abuse for over 30 years, which led to compromised mental health as well. My life experience has inspired me to create Freedom At The Mat as a trusted, sacred destination for women seeking healing & transformation, online or offline," said Scott. Olivia's journey with her sister also led her to Grace House of Memphis, a safe space for women battling addiction to recover their lives through the support of other women. Grace House never turns a woman away because of the inability to pay for treatment. FATM will donate all revenue from the Freedom Of The Soul Memphis to the organization, and allot free admission for 10 Grace House clients and donate three yoga mats for client use.
In the spirit of Margaret Mead who says "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has," Grace House of Memphis Karen Morgan, Clinical Director shares, "With this powerful quote in mind, we have joined Freedom at The Mat to empower women on their journey."
Register for Freedom Of The Soul Memphis at FreedomAtTheMat.com before September 24 at 11:59 PM. Class is open to 50 paid students, with ticket prices ranging from $25-$30.
