Healthcare reform is a subject that has been discussed for years. Unfortunately, more needs to be done to implement the necessary reforms. This is something that disappoints Dr. Murtagh. He acknowledges that the need to change medicine is not just in the US but also in other countries.

The Upcoming Healthcare Crisis

"I am afraid we are facing a coming healthcare crisis," said Dr. Murtagh. He told Idea Mensch that he had joined a coalition of doctors and citizens alarmed by the current healthcare issues, especially as they affect inner-city public hospitals and working families.

Dr. Murtagh believes that more has to be done if the coming crisis is to be averted. Some healthcare practices have to be changed. There is a need to invest more in personnel and equipment.

In the interview, Dr. James Murtagh insisted that America's response to the pandemic was poor, resulting in over one million unnecessary deaths. He believes that a good percentage of these deaths could have been prevented if the proper measures had been implemented.

The U.S. took time to acknowledge the pandemic and put in place lockdowns. The hospitals needed to be better equipped and staffed to handle the surging coronavirus cases.

The Covid-19 pandemic revealed the weaknesses in the American healthcare system. These problems must be addressed to build a robust system.

Covid-19 caught the healthcare sector by surprise. No one was expecting a pandemic of that scale. The lessons learned from the pandemic should not be taken for granted. They should be used to improve the current healthcare practices.
