LONDON, UK / ACCESSWIRE / April 17, 2023 / In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, cybersecurity is paramount for companies of all sizes. One minor security breach could lead to losing valuable data, customer trust, and reputation. However, with ever-increasing regulatory requirements and cybersecurity risks, companies struggle to balance the benefits of compliance and cybersecurity with the costs and resources needed to maintain them.

Today we're going to talk about Velocity Check, a compliance, certification process management, and cybersecurity services provider, and chat with the company's lead - Loannis Pompogiatzis.

What is Velocity check?

Velocity Check works closely with each client to develop customized solutions that meet their specific needs. This includes developing compliance programs tailored to the client's industry, size, and risk profile.

The company uses best-of-breed technology to deliver aspects of its services, including automated compliance monitoring, phishing simulations, ransomware readiness assessments, network firewalls, DraaS, etc.

This can help clients stay ahead of changing compliance requirements, identify potential risks, and address them before they become major issues.

The company is led by Loannis Pompogiatzis, a seasoned cybersecurity professional with 23 years of experience in the field. Ioannis has delivered large and complex cybersecurity and IT projects worldwide, including establishing and managing the managed security services provider (MSSP) of du Telecoms, the Middle East's fastest-growing telecommunications company.

How has the firm dealt with challenges?

Loannis commented: "As the firm's leader, I can tell you that dealing with challenges is an inevitable part of running any business. We have faced our fair share of obstacles over the years, but I firmly believe that how we handle those challenges is what sets us apart."

He mentions an incident several years ago: "A corporate Windows domain infrastructure was inadvertently destroyed by mistake. A script that was supposed to delete temporary files executed in the wrong folder and deleted system files. More than 16 Windows servers remained at boot or displayed BSOD. The company could not operate. File and print servers, Exchange and SQL servers, and Oracle databases were completely inoperable.

One by one, for 36 straight hours, we have re-installed all the OSs and restored all the data from the latest differential backup, having first restored the full backup."

We usually take a proactive approach to avoid issues like those mentioned before and have developed robust contingency plans to mitigate their impact. Though when times inevitably get tough, we take pride in knowing that work will always get done, no matter the difficulty and mistakes made.

What are some lessons you've learned through the years?

"Motivation is a topic that has challenged me for a long time", said Loannis.

Over the years, I have learned that motivation is not just an inner strength that can be summoned on demand. I used to believe that failure was not an option and repeated it to myself like a mantra. While it worked for a while, it slowly removed the satisfaction from achieving and left me working primarily in survival mode.

I could not tell the difference between accomplishment and the fear of failing, and my mind cleverly masqueraded the penalty with the sense of achievement. Looking back, I realize that failure is a powerful emotion but not a healthy motivator.

If I could speak to my younger self, I would advise him to work hard on knowing himself, recognizing his shortcomings, and finding what makes him happy. Changing unhealthy behaviors is hard, but it pays off in the long run.

What does the future hold for Velocity Check?

In the coming years, Velocity Check aims to establish its services and reach more small and medium-sized companies, making cybersecurity and compliance more accessible. The company's ultimate goal is to help companies achieve compliance and cybersecurity goals while staying within their budget and resources.
