Matthew Lee has created a new candy dispenser, complete with new candies, and his patented approach to creating a new confectionery culture is generating a lot of attention from the industry's heavy hitters.
The history of Matthew's startup, Enjovo, can be traced to his love of basketball. Enjovo is also linked to something Matthew does not enjoy-grabbing a stick of gum or a mint, unwrapping it and popping it in his mouth with hands that are dirty and sweaty from playing basketball.
All of this got Matthew thinking about the legendary PEZ dispenser, that campy yet functional piece of nostalgia. And he grew inspired.
Matthew's next move was to draft a pocket-size candy dispenser design and ask an engineer friend to build a prototype. Compared with the PEZ dispenser, Matthew's dispenser is easier to operate and refill-and more hygienic as well.
As Enjovo raises a seed round to break into the $4B U.S. gum market; $36B global gum market; and $240B global confectionery market, data supporting the endeavor is encouraging. And Matthew's plan for revolutionizing the global candy industry, with his startup Enjovo, has generated quite the response.
The dispenser demo video reached 4.2M people on its Facebook page; and generated 2M+ views; 19K likes; and a 14% CTR among teens.
Raising the stakes is the attention that Matthew's dispenser is getting from Mars Wrigley, Mondelez and Perfetti Van Melle. These companies have asked for prototypes of the dispenser so they could assess its potential.
Matthew launched his startup-Enjovo was registered in Delaware in Jan. 2023-and secured patents for his own pocket-sized, one-hand operating candy dispenser, as well as gum, mints, chocolate beans, vitamin candy and energy candy. Currently, Matthew's dispenser patents cover 2B people in the U.S., European Union, China, Japan and South Korea; and patent applications are pending in Brazil and India, etc.
Adding to the luster of the Enjovo dispenser and candy is the fact that they are bundled and reduce packaging and waste through bulk sales to consumers. Now, the stage has been set for unlimited possibilities.
