New programs could have a scalable, systemic impact on global prevention efforts.
EL DORADO HILLS, CA / ACCESSWIRE / May 7, 2024 / 3Strands Global Foundation (3SGF), a non-profit organization working towards a world free from human trafficking, has launched two new human trafficking prevention education programs which are now available online. One course, Human Trafficking 101 for Rotary has been created specifically for members of Rotary International to teach the facts about human trafficking and prevention education. The second program, AWARE, is designed to inform and educate young adults, aged 15 through college, about human trafficking prevention as well as protective skills and resources for support.
"Both of the programs we've created go hand in hand", stated Ashlie Bryant, CEO of 3Strands Global Foundation. "Human Trafficking 101 for Rotary provides Rotarians around the world with the knowledge and tools they need to identify and respond appropriately to human trafficking, while the AWARE program provides age-appropriate learning to equip young adults with the information they need to understand and identify human trafficking and protect themselves from it. "
As Rotarians gain more knowledge and awareness around human trafficking, they can be poised to be the trusted adults that kids can turn to for resources and support. Now Rotarians will understand and be able to provide the tools and resources they need to respond in a safe way.
Each of these eLearning programs have been developed by a dedicated team of professionals and experts in human trafficking, education and mental health, as well as survivors who have lived experience. The online learning program is made up of multiple modules of interactive activities and videos to teach human trafficking facts and details of what human trafficking is and dispel the many misconceptions and inaccurate depictions of this form of exploitation. Participants also receive pre- and post-completion awareness surveys, a downloadable personal workbook that participants complete and customize for their geographic area and a certificate of completion.
"Like 3Strands Global Foundation, Rotary Action Group Against Slavery is committed to ending human trafficking and we are honored to partner on this endeavor" stated Bob Deering, Board Chair of the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery (RAGAS). "We recognize that to make a scalable, systemic impact we need training to be accessible online in a way that builds skills and is also readily available for our members, where and when they want to access it. We also see the AWARE program as something we can promote and provide to young leaders, in our RYLA or Rotaract programs. They can share the information and tools gained in their learning throughout their own communities, which is true prevention education."
Courses are currently available in English, and more languages will be added over the next year. There are small fees for each of the programs. The Rotary course is offered for $10 for a year and includes all downloadable materials, as well as access to the online community which provides message boards, general information, announcements, introductions, FAQs and human trafficking news. The AWARE program also comes with its own skill-building workbook and online community, and is offered to students for a one time fee of $60. To remove financial barriers, there are a variety of pricing plans available for consideration.
