Andrea D. Carter is Revolutionizing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Organizations

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / May 27, 2024 / Andrea Carter, a leading researcher and advocate for equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB), has been honored with two prestigious awards from Women Changing The World. These awards were presented by Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and Dr. Tererai Trent, Oprah Winfrey's all-time favorite guest. The awards recognize Carter's groundbreaking research and work in Belonging in the workplace, specifically in the areas of innovation and microbusiness, and were celebrated at a distinguished ceremony in Windsor, UK, highlighting women who are making a significant impact globally.

Andrea Carter's contributions to EDIB have set a new benchmark in how organizations approach, measure and implement these crucial practices, with a foundational focus on belonging - the key to bringing people together. Holding a Master's in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a minor in Social Justice and a specialty in Strategic Human Resource Management, Andrea's expertise is well-recognized in academic and professional circles. She serves as an Adjunct Professor at Adler University and heads Doctoral Student publications of Belonging in the workplace research. This November, she will be among the first to teach at the inaugural Institute of Socially Responsible Leadership and Organizational Health.

"These exceptional women are here to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all. The rising of women is the awakening of everybody," said Dr. Tererai Trent during the award ceremony.

Andrea's innovative research measures the brain's requirements for perceiving belonging and has validated the only organizational survey that accurately measures belonging in the workplace. By examining identity intersections, she developed a methodology to identify gaps between underrepresented groups and the majority population, revealing hidden biases often missed in traditional surveys and statistical analyses. Her approach has resulted in double-digit improvements in closing these gaps, ensuring all employees feel seen, known, valued, accepted, and cared for which ultimately drives engagement and workplace motivation.

Moreover, Andrea has successfully linked her research on belonging to organizational performance, offering tools to measure and enhance workplace culture effectively. This holistic approach not only supports individual wellbeing but also boosts overall organizational success.

Andrea's work and methodologies have earned her the Women Changing The World awards for Innovation and Microbusiness of the Year. These accolades celebrate her commitment to making workplaces more inclusive and equitable, thereby inspiring other organizations to change how they approach culture and EDIB collectively.
