Beginning September 14, 2024, the company's entire operation will be powered 100% by solar energy. This transition represents a crucial step in Kay Park's ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and promote environmental stewardship.
By harnessing the sun's power, Kay Park is ensuring the sustainability of its operations and setting a new standard in the industry for environmental responsibility. This shift to solar energy will drastically reduce the company's reliance on traditional energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping preserve natural resources for future generations.

Kay Park partnered with Current Renewable Efficiencies, a West Des Moines-based solar energy supplier, to install solar panels across its facilities. Their Shell Rock Operations Office led the project, handling the comprehensive design and engineering work. The installation included 638 modules, generating 438,046 kWh annually to power Kay Park's manufacturing, administrative, and operational functions.
In addition to the environmental benefits, the shift to solar power is expected to yield significant long-term cost savings, which will enable Kay Park to continue offering high-quality products at competitive prices.
Kay Park Recreation has been at the forefront of providing ADA-compliant and eco-friendly outdoor furniture and recreational equipment for 70 years. This latest initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the company's sustainability efforts, including reducing waste, using recycled materials, and improving energy efficiency across all operations.
