Noki's personal ambient AI medical companion helps doctors alleviate administrative burdens and improve patient-centric medicine
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO / ACCESSWIRE / September 19, 2024 / Noki.ai, a Thinkhat venture studio company, has officially unveiled its groundbreaking voice-first healthcare platform for providers. It is designed to reimagine patient care leveraging proprietary AI architecture with advanced natural language processing (NLP) and large language models (LLM).
Aimed at addressing the issue of physician burnout and administrative burden on doctors and their wellbeing, Noki's ambient AI medical companion utilizes an intuitive, responsive interface, which can be incorporated into any established Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and is HIPAA and SOC2-compliant.
Noki's AI medical scribe documents doctor-patient interactions by automatically generating SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) notes while assisting the doctor with real-time CDSS (Clinical Decision support system) and medical coding. It accurately transcribes and contextually learns from all interactions to improve provider support and enhance patient experience.
"At Thinkhat, we are excited to announce the unveiling of Noki.ai's ambient AI medical scribe designed to alleviate physician burnout and reduce administrative burdens, ultimately saving time and adding value," said Ravi Lam, Founder and CEO of Thinkhat Venture Studio.
"We believe our provider community is the cornerstone of healthy, sustainable, and happy societies. By reimagining healthcare technology to seamlessly integrate with existing systems, we empower doctors to focus on delivering exceptional patient care."
Doctor burnout as a result of administrative burden is a pervasive problem in medicine. According to a study done by The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), "a significant percentage of the time family physicians spend on administrative and EHR tasks is devoted to chart review (32.1%), billing and coding (3.9%), and other clerical tasks (e.g., order entry) (16.6%), in addition to visit documentation (23.7%)."
The burden of managing the EHR inbox by doctors accounts for an additional 23.7% of time spent in the EHR, further exacerbating the problem. In another poll done by Stanford Medicine, 19 of the 31-minute patient encounters are spent in EHR. Administrative burden on doctors also takes away their focus on patients, leading to a decrease in access to care.
"Noki has allowed me to get back to what matters in my practice: my patients. Rather than spending hours on my computer in between appointments or at the end of the day, my notes and charts are now closed, and I can focus more on my patients and give them the attention they deserve. Noki has undoubtedly improved both my professional and personal life," said Dr. William Gibbs, MD, President of Empire State Medical Association.
"We believe that training and applying AI to administrative tasks can reduce physician burnout, ultimately enhancing patient engagement and experience," Lam said, adding that by combining the power of advanced AI support with an intuitive user interface, Noki's AI medical scribe allows doctors and their staff to easily document patient-doctor interactions, keep track of patient health records, optimize workflows and processes to save time and is designed to integrate with patient-generated data to track their health journey.
"Our vision for Noki was to create an AI companion that seamlessly integrates into the daily workflows of healthcare professionals by combining advanced NLP, LLM, and Reinforcement Learning techniques and mechanisms," said Siva Palagummi, Chief Architect of Noki
"Our robust, scalable architecture leverages cloud and edge computing for real-time responsiveness, with security and HIPAA compliance as paramount. By utilizing HL7 and FHIR protocols, Noki harmoniously integrates with any existing healthcare tech stack, providing a unified ecosystem that saves time and allows providers to focus on patient care."

"We are at an inflection point where rapid innovation in AI and computational power-coupled with physician shortages and rising healthcare costs- creating an opportune time to reimagine archaic systems that no longer meet the urgent needs of our healthcare communities. Noki's AI medical scribe is quickly demonstrating that it can be a valuable tool to help doctors and their practices become more efficient and patient-centric while reducing burnout, saving time and money - a win-win for healthcare systems everywhere," Lam said.
