Marquis Who’s Who

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESSWIRE / October 8, 2024 / Marquis Who's Who honors Jasmine Rose Penter, LCSW, for her exceptional work in the field of health care. As the owner of Ignite LLC, Ms. Penter is celebrated for her work as a private practice counselor, coach, and educator.

Jasmine Rose Penter

Displaying 23 years of expertise in mental health counseling, Ms. Penter proves that her impact within the industry is persisting. As she continues her private practice, she carries many seasoned achievements and present-day aspirations.

In her early years, Ms. Penter, her parents, and her sibling faced challenges that resulted in Ms. Penter having a unique understanding of the intricacies of chronic health and mental health conditions. With those challenges she entered counseling herself in eighth grade. She attributes her many successes to the life experiences she garnered while growing up.

Though she initially aspired to become a physical therapist, Ms. Penter soon recognized her preference for the humanities over the sciences after entering college. This epiphany came to her after completing a service-learning project at the Ronald McDonald House, a nonprofit charity for families with medically fragile children, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Thus inspired, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Social Work at Chatham College (now Chatham University) in 2001.

From 2002 to 2010, Ms. Penter worked for several nonprofits, one being a shelter for unhoused families and longer-term housing for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. She also availed herself as an office manager for a publishing company whose in-house journal appealed to professionals working with adolescents and young adults. With this position, she was also given the opportunity to design and implement a program that took disadvantaged youth to the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010. During the same year, she began her master's program.

In May of 2013, Ms. Penter graduated with a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. While working toward her degrees, she received accolades from the Phi Alpha Honor Society and completed two notable field placements, which led to her understanding and passions for the study of pediatric hospice, grief, and loss, as well as a deeper understanding of the effects of trauma on both physical and mental health.

In June of 2013 Ms. Penter was employed by a local hospital as a medical social worker and care manager. In September of that year, she opened her private practice part-time while she completed her licensing requirements. Her tenure at the hospital sparked a plan of action for her to open her private practice, Ignite LLC, full time in January 2020, shortly before the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms. Penter discovered during this time that she could personalize her clients' services. Despite understanding that the human services industry is increasingly moving toward telecommunications, she continued to extend in-person sessions to her clients with protocols that adhered to social distancing guidelines. In her mind, this was crucial in assisting people with the effects of extreme isolation and learning to cope with a new way of living. In October 2023, Ms. Penter completed training for Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which is similar to the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy she has used for years to help clients who have experienced trauma.

Employing the company motto, "Ignite inner strength," Ms. Penter aims to provide her clients with an exclusive experience, reminding them they are their own best specialists and that she will guide them through their recovery journey with a side-by-side approach. Ms. Penter has also been working on "Side BYE Side: Living Between Life & Death," a book she aims to publish by the end of 2024. This autobiographical manual aims to inspire discussion while explaining how she came to understand her side-by-side approach, weaving in her understanding of post-traumatic stress and post-traumatic growth, topics she deems crucial as individuals look toward healthier and more intentional living.

Pondering the future, Ms. Penter balances her professional endeavors with her personal ones to maintain a healthy approach to setting and achieving her goals. Alongside her current aim of publishing her book, she is producing a documentary highlighting her approach to private counseling.

As she looks ahead to the next five years, Ms. Penter is dedicated to furthering her academic ventures based on her clients' needs, her own understanding of the gaps in care that exist in mental health settings, and her desire to continue to teach and educate those around her. She also seeks to continue working toward earning her second-degree black belt in Taekwondo; which has been an important practice for her since before the pandemic. Ms. Penter showcases that strength and resilience remain crucial to bettering her mental well-being and those she serves.
