THESSALONIKI, GREECE / ACCESSWIRE / October 28, 2024 / Stan Polovets, Founder and CEO of The Genesis Prize Foundation, will be among the dignitaries attending a ceremony marking the commencement of construction of the Holocaust Museum of Greece in Thessaloniki on Tuesday, October 29.

Eighty years after Germany's surrender in World War II, following the full exposure of German atrocities committed against Jews and other minorities, Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou will welcome German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Stan Polovets to the event.

In 2022, the Genesis Prize was awarded to Dr. Albert Bourla, Chairman and CEO of Pfizer, for his leadership in developing the first effective COVID-19 vaccine. In Dr. Bourla's honor, The Genesis Prize Foundation donated $1 million toward the construction of the Holocaust Museum of Greece.

"I am honored to represent The Genesis Prize Foundation at this important occasion marking progress on the decades-long dream of building this important museum," said Stan Polovets. "Dr. Bourla is deeply committed to his hometown of Thessaloniki and to the construction of the Museum. As antisemitism and Holocaust denial continues to grow around the world, it is crucial that we educate the world about the ramifications and horrors of Jew-hatred."

The Museum, located at the site of the Old Railway Station where trains departed for Nazi concentration camps, is scheduled for completion in 2026.
