While operating as an auditor and consultant, Ms. Gioia guided nonprofits in budget and cash flow management, grant proposals, and audits, among other services, including the drafting of financial statements. Her initial positions as an auditor at Laventhol & Horwath and as a contract trainer at The Pew Charitable Trusts were also instrumental in fortifying her position in the industry.
Ms. Gioia had a solid base in academics before exploring the finance sector. In 1981, she graduated summa cum laude from Avila University with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting, international management, and French. After that, she became a CPA and then earned a Master of Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, specializing in the management of the nonprofit sector.
Ms. Gioia's impressive accomplishments have earned her recognition beyond Marquis Who's Who. She has been featured as a Top Professional by The Wall Street Journal and honored by many national honor associations like Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Alpha Alpha, Kappa Gamma Pi, and Delta Epsilon Sigma. Her work with nonprofit organizations has been widely acknowledged, earning her prestigious honors, including the Community Accountants' Volunteer of the Year, the Small Business Administration's Accountant Advocate of the Year and Ingram's Local Heroes Award in 2022.
Ms. Gioia has prioritized working for nonprofit organizations as she believes she can utilize her financial expertise to bring transformations to these institutions. Ms. Gioia attributes her success to her parents, who have been a great inspiration in her life. Her father, a teacher engaged in finance-related activities, and her mother, the head dietitian at the University of Kansas Medical Center, fueled her dedication to education, service, and financial excellence.
Ms. Gioia hopes to continue contributing by volunteering for nonprofit organizations and providing financial assistance in all ways possible to the mission of these organizations.
